I finally got them. These boots I have been dreaming about since the moment I first saw them. I was originally going to obtain them directly from Danner, but that was before they stopped all retail sales of them and made them impossible to find. Basically the only way to get these boots in a reliable way was to travel to Afghanistan and strip them off of a soldier’s feet. Somehow, a friend of mine was able to locate this one particular pair that a member of the Army stationed at Fort Bragg, in Fayetteville, NC was selling. I guess a few extra pair made their way out after all. These boots are a little bigger than I actually wanted, they are a size 12, and I normally wear between an 11 and 11.5 in a Danner boot. Oh well, I will wear thick socks if I have to. It would seem that I now have my hiking boots for the season.
