Restricted desire. The essence of the concept for this photograph is the balance between the desire to enjoy the sneakers presented and the internal need to hold back and keep the desires private. Potentially interpreted after the fact to be the other side of the story, the eager sneaker boy approaching the foot of a less than willing “recipient” (trying to avoid jock for now). In either of the interpretations, the cuffs symbolize a holding back of desire.
